Have a great week!

logo-flexicontentEmmanuel Danan of FlexiContent fame, has silently released a new version of the software to GoogleCode.

Version 1.5.5 includes a number of bug fixes, as well as some new features. Among the new features is the addition of a new FlexiContent Tag Cloud module.

The version also removes a potential security risk (deprecated method "setCacheThumbChmod()")

In this video, Matt Thomas talks about his Construct template development framework for Joomla.

Matt won the J.O.S.C.A.R.S award at the J and Beyond 2011 conference for Construct.

Construct Unified is the first template development framework that works alike in Joomla! 1.5, 1.6, the Molajo Joomla 1.6 distribution, and Nooku Server, allowing for a seamless transition of your template. It fuses the power of Construct Pro with new features for unparalleled flexibility.

As with all versions of Construct, Construct Unified doesn't rely on WYSIYG editors or new interfaces. It provides a flexible and powerful foundation for the rapid development of one-of-a-kind templates. A few lines of CSS is all that is needed to create a unique template, expand it further by overriding the core layout and styles on a dynamic basis.

In this video, Alex Bremer of 3B Digital shares some of his insights on working with Joomla in an agency setting.

He also shares his view on the J and Beyond conference.

Alex runs 3B Digital with his brother Jack Bremer. The business is based in Battersea, London and currently employs 12 people.

Just like last year, I met a lot of interesting people at J and Beyond. And just like last year, I decided to create a video with some testimonials from the event.

This video shows a some impressions from the second J and Beyond conference, that took place in Kerkrade, The Netherlands form May 6th to May 8th 2011.

In this video, some of the participants share what J and Beyond 2011 means to them. There's also some pictures and some footage from the Rolduc venue where the conference happened. Perhaps the video will give you some comfort when you start missing J and Beyond too much - or inspire you to go there next year.

stian-didriksenDuring his presentation at J and Beyond 2011, developer and designer Stian Didriksen announced that he has partnered with Joomla template and extensions developer RocketTheme.

RocketTheme will be using NinjaBoard as their forum solution of choice for future templates.

Currently, the template developer is using phpbb3. The collaboration between Stian and RocketTheme will improve the feature-set of NinjaBoard and I could tell Stian was excited of the possibilities.

RocketTheme will sponsor development of NinjaBoard for a year and have put a significant amount of money on the table for that to happen.

On Saturday May 7th, the attendees of J and Beyond 2011 all gathered in the auditorium of Rolduc Conference centre.

The reason was to witness the awards ceremony for this year's J.O.S.C.A.R.S - the Joomla Open Source Creative Artistic Recognition Awards.

The ceremony was led by Sir Brian Teeman (dressed as a knight) and Victor Drover. They were assisted by members of the crowd to present the awards to each winner.

jab11-appThe J and Beyond organizers just won't stop delivering. The latest is a mobile app with all the info you need for a smooth conference experience.

The app was developed by the team at Appcelerator. This is a truly native mobile app where you can see details of all the sessions and speakers and store them into your own personal planner. If you have a long journey ahead of you - go grab the app and select the sessions you wish to attend.

The source code for the app will be released so that other Joomla! event organisers can create a native mobile app.
