Duplicate Template Fix for Joomla 2.5

Written by Andy Miller

Since the release of Joomla 2.5 there has been a particularly annoying “duplicate template” bug that becomes clearly evident when you install or update a template. As our primary business involves templates, and as a result the vast majority of our users install templates, this has caused a great deal of confusion and consternation among our users.

This bug was identified and patched in the Joomla platform shortly after the 2.5.0 release, however, Joomla is currently at 2.5.2 and this issue remains because the Joomla platfrom fix has not been merged into the Joomla CMS code.

Joomla 2.5.3 released and Quickstart packages updated

Written by Anthony Olsen

Over night Jeff Channell posted some information regarding the privilege escalation vulnerability recently found in Joomla 2.5. If you haven't already updated, then it's advised that you upgrade to the latest version of Joomla via the Joomla update process as soon as possible.

A big thankyou ...

A big thanks goes out to Jeff for spotting and fixing this - the Joomla world is a safer place when Jeff is on the case.

I have just finished a makeover of the Fastnet Web Design website to make it mobile/smartphone/tablet friendly, using what we have come to know over the the past 6+ months as 'Responsive Web Design'.

Urgent security update available - Joomla 2.5.3

Written by Victor Drover

On Thursday the Joomla project released version 2.5.3 to patch two serious security vulnerabilities affecting all Joomla 2.5.2 and all earlier versions including Joomla 1.6 and 1.7.

It is CRITICAL that all Joomla instances — version 1.6, 1.7 and 2.5 — upgrade immediately to version 2.5.3.

Anything Digital is proud to recognize Jeff Channell — our very own Senior Developer — for identifying one of the vulnerabilities on Monday and reporting it to the Joomla Security Strike Team who acted quickly to release the update.

JCal Pro 3 - the calender for Joomla 2.5 - with custom fields and event registration is now available

Written by Victor Drover

It gives me great pleasure today to officially announce that JCal Pro® for Joomla 2.5 is now available from our app store.  Back in January we released a public beta version and used the feedback to make JCal Pro® the best calendaring solution for your Joomla 2.5 web site.

Most if not all of the features you have come to enjoy and expect from JCal Pro® are available in this most recent release.  In addition, we’ve built upon the power of Joomla 2.5 to add great new options such as placing events in multiple categories, fine-grained control of user permissions, event registration, custom fields for your events and more.
