K2 v2.5.5 coming out next week - now supported by 52 language translation teams!

Written by Fotis Evangelou

I'll keep this short... Although we kept the version numbering inside the 2.5.x series, 2.5.5 brings some new uber-cool features:

* Smart Search integration for Joomla! 2.5

* integration with anti-spam service StopForumSpam.com to stop real, human spam - available upon user sign up and for flagging spammers in comments

* native support for jUpgrade (both versions) makes upgrading a Joomla! 1.5 site to 2.5 a piece of cake

* integration with the Joomla! updater (v1.7+). Using the built-in extension updater in Joomla! you can check if there's a new K2 release and instantly apply the update

An open letter to the new OSM president

Written by Ryan Ozimek

Hi Paul,  Congratulations! You’ve been elected to a key leadership role in one of the world’s most successful open source projects. This is going to be a fun ride, I promise. Okay, it might not always be “fun”, but I can promise you that it will be one of the most memorable jobs you’ll ever take. And yes, I did label it a “job”.

As you get started, I thought I’d share some lessons I’ve learned from my two years as President, and five years as an OSM board member. Take the advice as you see fit. Ignore some of it, absorb some of it. Heck, many times, I didn’t follow my own advice, and I can assure you that it often lead to less-than-successful conclusions. Don’t be me. Be better than me by learning from my challenges.

Show / Hide a field in RSForm! Pro

Written by Octavian Cinciu

With the latest revision of our Joomla! form builder RSForm! Pro we have added a much desired feature - conditional fields.

What are "Conditional Fields"?

Conditional fields allow you to show or hide a field based on the user's selections. With this article we will guide you in using these type of conditions. For a better understanding, we will start by modifying the "RSForm! Pro example" form. This form comes preinstalled with RSForm! Pro, so you should be good to go.

Forms for Joomla 2.5, v0.6.1 Released

Written by Phil Taylor

In the start of quick releases again for bfForms for Joomla 2.5 we are pleased to announce the second release this week of Forms For Joomla 2.5.

Ok, so the changes are not massive, but they are addressing some important bugs and tweaks needed for a long time now, and are the latest in a set of planned updates.  Future changes will include adding (or more like releasing, as its already written) support for the new Joomla auto-updater, the upgrading of all dependant libs, and the much loved ixEdit is about to hit the big time following our forking of the ixEdit project earlier this week.

JoomlaPraise is now part of the 'corePHP' family!

Written by  Team JoomlaPraise

Dear friends,  As you may recall, JoomlaPraise’s founder, Gary Gisclair, posted a blog a few months back detailing his progress updating JP’s templates to Joomla! 1.7/2.5 and his desire to get JoomlaPraise re-launched and once-again releasing “great templates & extensions” in 2012.

Gary had been working around the clock to make this happen, but after the birth of his twin daughters this past fall, it quickly became apparent to him that it would be difficult to continue working full-time at JoomlaPraise now that he was a new Dad.

Gary didn’t want to let his customers down, so he asked ‘corePHP’, a respected Joomla! development & design company, if they could assist. After a few months of working with Gary on updating JP’s templates, ‘corePHP’ offered to acquire JoomlaPraise.

Google Analytics integration with JoomlaShine templates for Joomla newbies

Written by TamNL

Google Analytics is a highly recommended tool to check and analyze site traffic statistics. Almost all Joomla newbies know that they should install this tool in their Joomla templates but not all of them know the way to do it. JoomlaShine templates can help you to install the code easily. This article will show you how to do the Google Analytics integration with JoomlaShine templates. Just follow the instructions; you can do it in a few minutes.

Why choose JoomlaShine templates

With the default Joomla, you must edit the template's HTML to add Google Analytics code. It's not easy for you to do it successfully if you are a Joomla newbie and know nothing about the HTML code. Most of you must try it at least twice to make the code work. But JoomlaShine templates have a special feature that allows you to install the code without editing the HTML file. And the code will work correctly as soon as you have added it. Have a look at the Analytics feature, and I will guide you step by step to use it with the instructions below.
