Impressions from J and Beyond 2011 [VIDEO]
Just like last year, I met a lot of interesting people at J and Beyond. And just like last year, I decided to create a video with some testimonials from the event.
This video shows a some impressions from the second J and Beyond conference, that took place in Kerkrade, The Netherlands form May 6th to May 8th 2011.
In this video, some of the participants share what J and Beyond 2011 means to them. There's also some pictures and some footage from the Rolduc venue where the conference happened. Perhaps the video will give you some comfort when you start missing J and Beyond too much - or inspire you to go there next year.
Results from the 2011 J.O.S.C.A.R.S
On Saturday May 7th, the attendees of J and Beyond 2011 all gathered in the auditorium of Rolduc Conference centre.
The reason was to witness the awards ceremony for this year's J.O.S.C.A.R.S - the Joomla Open Source Creative Artistic Recognition Awards.
The ceremony was led by Sir Brian Teeman (dressed as a knight) and Victor Drover. They were assisted by members of the crowd to present the awards to each winner.
Complete description of all Talks at J and Beyond 2011 [PDF]
If you're like me, you're not sure about which talks to attend at J and Beyond 2011.
Going through all the details pages at jandbeyond.org one by one is a daunting task, and I figured there had to be a better way. Thus, I asked my friends over at GetFriday to compile all of the descriptions into an easy-to-digest document.
And so they did. The result is a document describing every talk at J and Beyond 2011, complete with a table of contents.
It's useful to me, and if you would like it as well, download it here:

See you at J and Beyond!
Leaving for J and Beyond
Finally, I'm on my way to J and Beyond 2011. Since I attended the first JAB event in Wiesbaden last year, I've really been looking forward to go back.
The event was so nice in every way - and now it's finally time for another dose of Joomla socializing, learning and blogging ;)
J and Beyond - the app
The J and Beyond organizers just won't stop delivering. The latest is a mobile app with all the info you need for a smooth conference experience.
The app was developed by the team at Appcelerator. This is a truly native mobile app where you can see details of all the sessions and speakers and store them into your own personal planner. If you have a long journey ahead of you - go grab the app and select the sessions you wish to attend.
The source code for the app will be released so that other Joomla! event organisers can create a native mobile app.
Shortlist for the J!Oscars awards announced
The shortlist for the J!Oscars awards was announced a couple of days ago.
Just like last year, I'm nominated in the 'Blog Junkie' category, and the blog is nominated in the 'Blog Web Site' category. I'm happy and honoured that I'm nominated in two categories.
If you like what you find on this blog and you're going to J and Beyond, you know what to do ;)This year the J and Beyond organizers have had a record number of nominations and the international panel has had a very hard task in creating a shortlist.
Nominate for J!Oscars awards 2011
The Joomla Open Source Creative and Artistic Recognition awards, or JOSCARs, are held annually at the J! and Beyond conference to recognize excellence in the Joomla community.
Now it's time to nominate people for this prestigious award - an award presented to community members by the Joomla community itself.
Highlights from Joomla Night Stockholm 2011 [VIDEO]
This video shows a some highlights from the first ever Joomla Night.
The event took place in Stockholm and featured presentations about the Road ahead for Joomla (Ryan Ozimek), The Molajo distribution (Marco Barbosa) and the Nooku framework (Johan Janssens).
In the video, you will hear the introduction by Sarah Watz, an introduction by Ryan Ozimek, a presentation of Minima by Marco Barbosa. The video ends with an interview with Martin Blodau about organizing the first Joomla Night ever. And of course, we need to have an end that rocks!
First Joomla Night ever took place in Stockholm
On Friday, the first ever Joomla! Night was held in Stockholm, Sweden. The event took place in the offices of .SE, the organization in charge of the top-domain for Sweden (.se).
The theme of the Joomla Night was "Joomla at the edge of innovation".
To explore the subject, the organizers had put together a diverse team of speakers. One can say it was a bit controversial. Still, I think it was good to see three different approaches to Joomla and open source, on the same night.
Going to Joomla! Night Stockholm
In a few weeks, I'm going to attend the first Swedish Joomla! Night. It takes place in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.
The theme of the Joomla! Night is 'Joomla: at the edge of innovation Build your website with a cutting edge CMS'.
The talks will center around this subject, and they even get a visit from the President :)
