What's coming in Joomla 1.6 - presentation by Brian Teeman and Nicholas Dionysopoulos

The event gathered 150 Joomla enthusiasts of varying ability to explore different subjects and socialize.

Brian Teeman and Nicholas Dionysopoulos were there to give presentations, and were asked by the organizers to prepare a short presentation on what's coming in Joomla 1.6. They gave a 15 minute presentation called "Joomla 1.6 - a date with the future", and the result can be enjoyed in this post.

Changes in Joomla 1.6

Apart from the new functions, there are some significant changes in how Joomla 1.6 works, when compared with Joomla 1.5.

  • System requirements have changed
  • No Legacy mode (no 1.0 or 1.5, the extensions you use will have to be updated)
  • New buttons (Save & New, Save & Copy)
  • Improved Menu Manager
  • Timed modules
  • Featured articles
