Upgrading to Joomla 2.5 - Some Warnings
Written by Brian Teeman
Joomla 2.5 was released earlier this week and I would like to publicly thanks everyone who helped to code and test this release. It truly is the next major step in the life of this awesome community software project.
The upgrade process from Joomla 1.7 is a very simple one-click process but there are a few things you should do immediately after performing the upgrade to ensure a smooth transition.
Of course it goes without saying that you should perform a full site backup before starting the upgrade process. The advice below should be followed in this specific order.
Joomla 2.5 Includes New Version of Joomla PHP Framework
Written by Chad Windnagle
The Joomla Project’s latest CMS release includes a release of the project’s PHP Framework: Joomla Platform. In 2010 the project made plans to officially decouple the core of Joomla (now the Platform) from the CMS. This allows site implementers to utilize both the full featured CMS, and as well as allow developers to use the light but powerful Joomla Platform core to power web applications. The Joomla 2.5 CMS release includes notable features that until now have been available only to those developers who have been using the Joomla Platform as a stand alone application. Among others, some of my favorites are:

End of November last year we introduced FILEman the latest from the Joomlatools product line. FILEman is our lightweight, simple, speedy and vamped up version of the Joomla media manager featuring multiple and remote file uploads, easy file linking and automatic thumbnail generation.
Since the beta release of FILEman end of December we have been working hard on adding a few more key features we are sure you will like. FILEman now comes with a built-in image gallery, support for file listings and we added the ability to remotely upload files.
Zentools v1.2 is Joomla 2.5 ready
Written by Anthony Olsen
It feels great to be able to announce that Zentools is now Joomla 2.5 compatible. If you missed it Joomla 2.5 was released yesterday and J2.5 has a lot of useful new features. In particular Zentools has pulled in two of the new features into it's layout options.
Using Joomla 2.5 article images for the Zentools image
Joomla 2.5 now allows you to specify images for your content without the need to actually display them in the intro or full text of the item. Zentools has been doing this with K2 for a while, but now you can use an image in the module that isn't displayed in the item itself. The benefit for this is that you can use large images in the slideshow that do not then disrupt the flow of content in the content item itself.
Joomla affiliate program : make money online step by step
Written by Huyennt
Overview
There are many ways to make money online with Joomla; one of them is by joining a Joomla affiliate program. You just need to register an account, promote a Joomla product and the money will roll right in. It sounds attractive, right? I know that some of you might want to be an affiliate to make money online. So now, let's get some behind-the-screen secrets revealed.-
An affiliate program
An affiliate program is an arrangement in which an online merchant website pays affiliates a commission to send them traffic or get people to buy their products. This agreement is usually based on the number of people the affiliate sends to the merchant's site, or the number of people they send to make a purchase or perform some other actions. There are at least three parties in an affiliate program transaction:
JoomlaShine is now ready for Joomla 2.5

Joomla 2.5, with many new features and upgrades, comes soon after the release of versions beta1 and beta2. JoomlaShine is glad to announce that we have already tested our JoomlaShine template in Joomla 2.5 and will support it when it is officially released.
After Joomla 2.5 beta1 and beta2 were released, we built a test-case to check the JoomlaShine template performance and got a positive result:
