Admincredible.com is Live. Beta Coming Shortly

Written by Steve Burge

I’ve mentioned before on this blog that we’re launching a new service called Admincredible.  The goal of Admincredible? To make it easy to monitor and update all your Joomla sites.  Well, things are moving ahead rapidly: Admincredible.com went live this week.  I think the site turned out wonderfully. It has a unique design for what we hope will be a unique brand. If you ever want a site built, seriously consider working with Fotis and his team from Joomlaworks / Nuevvo.

The next step for Admincredible is the beta launch of the product itself. If you want an invitation, visit Admincredible.com, click the newsletter button in the top-right corner and sign up.

Joomla 3.0 Alpha 2 Notes

Written by Kyle Ledbetter

Don’t use it on production

I know this has been said over and over, but please don’t use an alpha on a production site. This release serves two main purposes: 1) Developer preview so devs can get their extensions ready 2) Marketing preview so the world can know what’s coming.

Thanks to the JUX team

The JUX was officially approved at JoomlaDay Chicago 2011, but only started coming together at the 2012 JandBeyond. I am humbled by the talent and devotion of this crew that’s worked around the clock for months and touched just about every single file in Joomla. Special thanks to Rouven Weßling who has been our tether to the core and has gone above and beyond in his efforts. Don’t start celebrating yet guys, we have a lot of work before stable.

DOCman for Intranets

Written by Myra

Did you know that DOCman can be easily used for document linking on an intranet? DOCman is not only a document management tool for your online users, it is also effective for document management for an intranet.  The changes in the recent release of DOCman now allow linking to documents on an intranet with ease. You can now view and download files using the URL: file:///path/to/the/file.txt

The file:// protocol to link to external files is supported since DOCman 1.6.4 and 1.5.14. Most intranets have storage drives for storing files and documents across the network and you can link windows network documents on an intranet using Universal/Uniform Naming Conventions (UNC) paths.  A UNC path describes the location of a volume, directory, or file. Rather than describe the location of a file or directory by drive letter, the Network Group will typically communicate a UNC path to describe the actual location of a file or directory.

Responsive Jomsocial Template

Written by Anthony Olsen

I have wanted to create a Jomsocial template for such a long time that I feel like I have just ticked something off my bucket list. I'd be surprised if you didn't already know about Jomsocial but for those that don't - Jomsocial is the premier social networking extension for Joomla.  Building the demo site for the Highline Jomsocial Template was the first chance I've had to play with Jomsocial (at least for an extended amount of time) and I have to say that this is a really solid piece of software. While I recognise that not everyone needs a social app on their website, I can certainly see why this is the chosen extension among Joomla web site builders for creating social or community driven websites.
