Improvements to Joomla! Documentation
Written by Tom Hutchison
If it has been a while since you have seen the Joomla! Doc’s Wiki, you should take a look at all of the improvements made over the past few months. The Documentation Team has been hard at work organizing, adding features and cleaning out the clutter. We’ve even made it easier to contribute with the new wiki editor, including buttons to help insert code snippets into wiki pages.
What we need now is more involvement from the Joomla! Community. You don’t have to be a developer, on the Documentation Team or even a Joomla! expert, just five minutes a day or a half an hour on a Saturday morning can help improve the Joomla! Docs for everyone.
Some of the improvements are:
Now Always Open for PLT Nominations
Written by Andrea Tarr
The Joomla! Production Leadership Team (PLT) is responsible for leading and coordinating the development of the Joomla! CMS and Framework. This includes releasing new versions, fixing bugs, adding new features, and creating documentation and translations. We are looking for your nominations for new PLT members. We acknowledge that the greater worldwide Joomla! community can help us a lot in this election process, and make us aware of potential candidates we may overlook.
Since we will be adding new people one by one throughout the year, we have decided to put the nomination form up permanently on the developer site at http://developer.joomla.org to continuously gather suggestions. You can nominate yourself or someone else at any time. If you nominate someone else, please ask them first if they are interested and have the time available.
RokUpdater: Easy Updating for RocketTheme Extensions
Written by Ryan Pierson
RokUpdater is the newest member of the RocketTheme family of extensions for Joomla. It is an answer to our member's desire for an easier method to update club and free extensions.
RokUpdater takes care of authentication for you so Joomla can download and install the new file(s) without any further action required on your part.
With RokUpdater, we've made the update process for RocketTheme extensions transparent to the normal Joomla update process. In fact, once you're logged in to your RocketTheme account using RokUpdater, you don't need to do anything more than select the RocketTheme extensions you wish to update from the Update Manager list and hit Update.
Take a moment and look at our new responsive Joomla template

Sorry for the pun but I couldn't resist ...
The Moments template started out as a template design reminiscent of the Platform Joomla template we released last year, but the more I worked with it, the more it grew into something with a whole lot more potential.
The front page of the demo features a pinterest-like masonry-driven flexible grid layout but if you dig deeper into the demo you will see that we packed a lot more into this neat little design.
The full width slideshow features an instance of the Zentools slideshow using the template's fullwidth layout.
The Elements of Effective Notification Emails
Written by Jessica Dunbar
In the recent weeks we looked at how JCal Pro® 3 has integrated email notifications, and how this relates to managing registrations. The JCal Pro® 3 Email Manager provides extremely powerful and flexible automatic notification system calendar-related email. Let’s look into some simple opportunities to optimize your email notifications to increase leads, and repeat registrants.
Upsell
Good upselling starts with paying attention what your users are interested in already. Following event registration, a notification with post-sale upsell is one of the most commonly overlooked techniques. It’s much easier to sell another product or event ticket to an existing customer than it is to find a new one.
