Ninjaboard Announcements, growing team, new releases and a RocketTheme sponsorship
Written by Stian Didriksen
We have exciting news to share today, about what’s coming and what’s happening!
RocketTheme sponsors Ninjaboard development for the next year
This was announced during the JandBeyond 2011 event, you can read a good report on it here.
We are given resources to allow us to give Ninjaboard even more focus and development than we already do, with the end goal of making Ninjaboard a viable solution that can replace phpBB3 on the RocketTheme.com site.

Making Joomla Idiot Proof (part 1)
Written by Brian Teeman
Whenever I build a web site I try to do it so that the client will have as little to do or remember as possible and yet there are just some things "they just don't get".
One of the things that always frustrates me is when I re-visit the site after handing it over and it looks terrible. It seems that no matter how good the instructions are or how comprehensive the training is some users just don't listen or don't care.

It’s less than a month until Joomla! CMS 1.7 is scheduled for release, and developers have been busy writing, testing and committing new features, working on the platform, and fixing bugs. Different handling of empty Categories in 1.1.9
Written by Thomas Kahl
The current release of Virtuemart (1.1.9) handles empty categories different from previous versions: If a category does not contain any products, also subcategories are not shown - even if they contain products. There is a thread in the virtuemart forum discussing this behavior.

Music to Design to - Thin Red Line
Written by Anthony Olsen
My Music to Design to selections tend to be a little (and unapologetically) electro-centric but over the last few years I have been trying to widen my scope and one genre that listen to regularly are movie soundtracks. I love watching intense and intelligent movies and love them even more when they have beautiful, intense and sublime soundtracks.

Hoverbox Image Gallery for Joomla 1.6
Written by Anthony Olsen
One of our most neglected Joomla extensions, Hoverbox, has just been recoded from the ground up and is now compatible with Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.6. Hoverbox was one of the extensions I cut my teeth on and I used it as a bit of a tool for learning when I first started working with Joomla.

Joomla 1.6 Template Version of Cultivate
Written by Anthony Olsen
I've been working hard at getting our recent Joomla templates ported across to Joomla 1.6 and I am happy to say that the most recent template to make it across to the new version is the Cultivate Joomla Template. Cultivate was released in January this year and so if you need a quick refresh on what this Joomla template was all about then check the overview page or go straight to the demo - otherwise club members can download the Joomla template and quickstart package from the download page.

Standardising the way we include jQuery
Written by Anthony Olsen
In the past we have used our free JB Library jQuery plugin to load the jQuery library for our templates and extensions but the next version of the Zen Grid Framework (due in the next few weeks) changes all of that. The new version of the framework will be moved from being a collection of files stored in the template folder on your site to a fully fledged Joomla system plugin which means we can incorporate most if not all of the current JB Library functionality into the Framework plugin.

A sneak peak at the July Joomla Template
Written by Anthony Olsen
One of the challenges of getting a Joomla template to release stage is deciding how to present the final result. There are often some solid and worthy ideas that get cast aside simply because they don't fit the final "feel" that we are trying to achieve - either that or - we run out of time.

Making our equal heights jQuery script smarter
Written by Anthony Olsen
If you have used any of our Joomla templates before, you may know that I am a massive fan of using jQuery. One of the things that we use it for is to equalise the height of certain divs so as to make certain design elements more uniform on the page.
