JomSocial, the community component for Joomla, will soon get chat functions. JomSocial is in use on a lot of sites, among them the popular people.joomla.org - the official Joomla! community site.

The extension will enable users of JomSocial powered sites to chat directly on the site.
JomSocial, the social networking component for Joomla! CMS, today announced the availability of the latest release, JomSocial 1.8. This version features the highly-anticipated Events management and overall improved usability.
JomSocial 1.8 is codenamed "Wazi", which is Swahili for clear, openness and clarity. JomSocial 1.8 is also the first version of this extension to be released as GPL.

So what's new about JomSocial 1.6, erm, Brillo? Well, for starters, we have resolved over 170 minor issues that were logged in our internal issue tracking system. You can view the complete change log here, but let me briefly highlight some of JomSocial Brillo's exciting new features.
RocketTheme has spent two months developing their new Affinity template. And there are a few good reasons for it.
The new Affinity template features a new module reordering ability. The function lets you order blocks vertically and modules horizontally in those blocks. You can reorder modules vertically in a module position. The order of the modules and blocks is remembered by the browser by use of a cookie. This way, the user sees the site the same way every time they visit the page - if they use the same browser, that is.
